ILLiad FAQ
Answers to frequently asked questions about ILLiad
What is ILLiad?
ILLiad is the electronic system you use to request an item through Interlibrary Loan. The name is an acronym for Interlibrary Loan internet accessible database.
How do I submit an ILLiad Request?
- Once you are logged into your ILLiad account, click on "New Requests" in the menu bar.
- Select the type of material you are requesting: Article, Book, Book Chapter, CD/DVD/LP, or Music Score.
- Complete the request form with as much information as possible. All required fields must be completed to process your request.
- Click the submit button located at the bottom of the request form.
You will be notified via email if we have any questions, when your physical request is available for pick-up, or when your digital request is ready for download.
Why do I need to log in to make a request?
Only current Purchase College students and staff are eligible to use ILLiad. Your login verifies your status as a current student or staff member and helps ensure the security of your account. Additionally, all requests are submitted and processed electronically, allowing us to provide quick and efficient service.
Can I request a Purchase College item that is checked out or not on the shelf?
Yes. If an item is checked out in Discovery Search or is not available on the shelf, you may request it.
Can I request a textbook?
No. Resource Sharing services are intended for short-term transactions to help patrons obtain materials not available locally. Textbooks for many Purchase College classes are available on reserve at the Circulation Desk.
